KMA BOSS VISITS DAGOMBA LINE FIRE SCENE AND DONATES ITEMS TO VICTIMS
The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has donated items to victims of a recent fire outbreak at Dagomba Line in Kumasi on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, as part of efforts to support affected residents and restore hope to the community.
The mayor first toured the affected area to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire which occurred on Sunday, 18thJanuary 2026, interacting with victims and community members to better understand their immediate needs.
He expressed sympathy to the victims and assured them of the Assembly’s commitment to standing with them during this difficult period.
As part of the donation exercise, Hon. Boadi, on behalf of KMA, donated four (4) bales of clothes, 100 mattresses, 250 bags of 20kg rice, 10 mini bags of maize, 50 mosquito nets, 100 buckets, 100 basins, 100 plastic bowls, 100 plastic cups, and 100 plates to support the affected victims.
Addressing the gathering, the MCE appealed to residents to work closely with Assemblyman and relevant authorities to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents. He emphasized the need for cooperation, vigilance, and adherence to safety practices.
According to the mayor, women, especially pregnant women and vulnerable victims who may not be financially capable of replacing their lost belongings must be prioritized in the distribution process.
Hon. Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, also directed that the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) would be engaged to educate residents of Dagomba Line on fire prevention measures, safety awareness, and emergency response to help avert future fire outbreaks.
The donated items were officially handed over to the Assemblyman, Hon. Daniel Otu Acheampong, the Chairman, Mohammed Salifu, and the community leaders who received them on behalf of the victims. They expressed gratitude to the KMA and assured that the items would be distributed transparently and responsibly.
The donation forms part of KMA’s broader commitment to disaster response, community welfare, and building resilient communities across the metropolis.
