3RD ORDINARY MEETING OF THE 4TH SESSION OF THE 8TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY HELD.

The KMA has held its 3rd Ordinary meeting of the 4th Session of the 8th Assembly on Thursday December28, 2023 at the Prempeh Assembly Hall.

The agenda for the meeting was to present and discuss Executive Committee report, Special investigation committee report on Krofrom Market project loan facility, Consideration of New Town Council report, and other matters.

Mayor of the City, Hon. Sam Pyne in a media interview after the meeting expressed appreciation to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his guidance and counsel, which he said has kept the KMA this far.

He also thanked management and staff of the KMA, honorable Assembly members, and the entire citizenry for their support, cooperation and collaboration since the beginning of the year 2023.

He said the 3rdOrdinary meeting was the last in the year and was used to discuss issues that has happened over the year and also discuss the way forward in the ensuing year especially now that the District Level Assembly elections has been held.

He enumerated a number of interventions the KMA has embarked on in the year 2023, chief among them he said were the construction of Classroom blocks, distribution of school furniture for both Basic and Senior High Schools, provision of streetlights, the HORESD project among others.

The City mayor however indicated that the main challenge of the KMA in the year 2023 was its finances, citing the Assembly’s low internally generated funds mobilization especially the collection of Property Rate by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He was however quick to add that the Assembly will improve on its revenue mobilization next year including night collection and also tackle sanitation and its legal issues to make Kumasi a clean City.
