KMA FACILITATES PLASTIC WASTE BUYING UNDER THE HORESD PROJECT

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, under the Holistic Reinforecement for Sustainable Development project (HORESD) on Wednesday 6thand Thursday 7th September, 2023 engaged waste pickers and buyers at Duase in the Manhyia North Sub-Metro and Sokoban in the Nhyiaeso Sub-Metro Councils respectively.

The engagement forms part of the implementation of the HORESD project being funded by the European Union over 30 months to build the capacity of local authorities, and improve service delivery, particularly in the area of waste management.

The engagement brought together plastic waste buyers and waste pickers to do business under the project.

The KMA under the HORESD project created a database of waste pickers in the circular economy value chain in the metropolis and also identified the buyers to do business with the pickers.
