    The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly   KMA  in collaboration with Water and Sanitation forthe Urban Poor  WSUP will soon implementa five year compound sanitation strategy (Toilet in every compound) which hasthe objective to increase access to improved compound toilets to residentswithin Kumasi.

    This was disclosed by Mr. Emmanuel Ntoso, a deputydirector at KMA at the opening of  a two-dayenforcement management training workshop organized by the KMA and WSUP forenvironmental health officers in the nine-sub metros of the Kumasi MetropolitanAssembly.   

    The programme comes in the form of capacity buildingand logistical support for the environmental health and sanitation Officers.

    The training was facilitated by Mr. Isaac Mensah, alegal practitioner and  the Regional Headof the Brong Ahafo Environmental Health and Sanitation Department.

    Topics treated included KMA Compound SanitationStrategy, EHSD�¢??s in the strategy implementation, KMA sanitation bye-laws, EHSDnew Enforcement Policy Statement (EPS) and Enforcement Management Model (EMM)which are concepts geared towards making EHOs community friendly to generatecommunity support.

    Participants were also taken through the varioustoilet technologies available, their operations and maintenance and Financingoptions available for the compounds to acquire toilets.
