Kumasi Investment Roadshow, Tuesday, October 8, 2013

The Kumasi Investment Roadshow is being organized by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly(KMA) and the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) under the auspices of His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II with the support from the "Regional Partnership to Promote Trade and Investment in Sub-Saharan Africa", an initiative funded by the Government of Finland. The Roadshow will be held at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Accra on Tuesday October 8, 2013.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has worked with the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) to undertake extensive research to identify viable investment opportunities in and around Kumasi. Investment opportunities have been identified in the areas of property development, agriculture and agri-business, food processing amongst others.  The Investment Roadshow is aimed at bringing these investment opportunities to the door-step of potential investors in Accra as well as investors from abroad. The event will be followed by an optional visit to potential sites in Kumasi on Wednesday October 9, 2013.

Similar investment promotion events have been held in Kumasi, London, New York and Atlanta between 2008 and 2010. The event held in New York in September 2008 resulted in the establishment of a bamboo bicycle and toothpick factory in Kumasi. The company currently produces completed bicycles and frames for the Ghanaian and European markets. The toothpicks are being test-marketed in Kumasi.

MCI, a project of the Earth Institute of Columbia University in New York, has been working with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to implement a number of initiatives aimed at creating an enabling environment for business and investment in and around Kumasi. Key amongst these initiatives are the publication of an investor's guide for Kumasi, the setting up of the Kumasi City Investment Promotion Unit (KCIPU) at the KMA, the establishment of an Investment Technical Committee made up of representative from the public and private sector,  the creation of a website solely dedicated to the promotion of investment opportunities in and around Kumasi - www.investinkumasi.com, and extensive research to identify viable investment opportunities in and around the city.

The event is free of charge; however, interested participants are encouraged to register early since seating is limited.
