KUMASI MAYOR APPEALS FOR PROPER MAINTENANCE CULTURE OF PUBLIC FACILITIES.

Hon. Samuel Pyne made the appeal at a colorful but brief ceremony to concurrently commission three separate projects in Kumasi Metropolis on Monday February 5,2024.

According to the mayor, the projects include a 6-Unit ground floor classroom block at Adumanu M/A school constructed by Derkak Company Ltd through the District Assembly Common Fund DACF/RFG at cost of GH¢810,838.35.

He said to utilize the minimum space available in the school, the first phase of the project is the ground floor whiles the second phase of the project, the construction of the first floor would start anytime soon.

The other projects include a 2No.9-Unit institutional sanitation facility for the Higher Institute of Islamic Studies at Buokrom, and Obiri Yeboah M/A Primary and Junior High School at Amakom respectively which was funded by the World Bank at a cost of GH¢1,242,238.53each constructed by Modern Star Plumbing and Construction.

Each of these disability-friendly facilities also has uninterrupted mechanized water supply, and specially-designed changing rooms for adolescent girls during their menstrual period. 

Hon. Samuel Pyne further stated that, education comes next to health, hence, the government’s relentless effort to ensure conducive atmosphere for quality education especially, children of school going age.

 

He, therefore appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to join hands with government to enhance the quality of education in the Metropolis. 

The Minister for Housing and Member of Parliament for Bantama, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye applauded the mayor and the Metropolitan Assembly for supporting the government to improve the quality of education in the Metropolis.

Nana Kwame Frimpong Akowuah III, the chairman for the ceremony and the Chief of Adumanu thanked the government and the mayor for their relentless commitment to education particularly his area.

 

He therefore appealed to the authorities to fence the school project to ward off miscreants from misusing the project.

With the Mayor of Kumasi to commission the three projects were the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko; Metropolitan Education Director, Mr. Daniel Oppong; heads of department at KMA, teachers, students, press and the general public.
