KUMASI MAYOR APPLAUDS MUSLIMS FOR PEACE IN KUMASI
Hon. Samuel Pyne, Mayor of Kumasi has commended the Muslim community for promoting peace in Kumasi and beyond.
According to him in recent years, the Muslim community had embraced religious, culture and ethnic diversity, thus, promoted peaceful atmosphere in the Metropolis.
This, he said, had contributed to the growth of Kumasi, socially and economically.
Without peaceful coexistence among people of diverse religious, culture, and ethnic backgrounds, the Mayor emphasised, Kumasi and Ghana as a whole would not have witnessed peace and growth, therefore commended Muslim for their immense contribution to peace.
Hon. Samuel Pyne made the commendation to the Muslim community on Thursday April 11, 2024 when addressing over 500 congregants of Ahmadiyya Muslims at Ahmadiyya Senior High School Park to climax this year's Eid-Ul-Fitr Festival.
The Ahmadiyya Muslims in Kumasi cladded in their beautiful Islamic dresses joined Muslims across Ghana and beyond to mark the Eid-Ul-Fitr Festival after a successful 30 days of Ramadan, as prescribed by Islam and the Holy Quran.
After congratulating the Muslims for a successful Ramadan, Hon. Samuel Pyne re-echoed Islamic faith, stating, "Islam teaches us that the month of Ramadan comes with the opportunity to offer our spiritual devotions to Almighty Allah, in anticipation that the fasting will bring forgiveness for the past sins and draw us closer to Allah".
The Holy Prophet Mohammed encouraged, and explicitly put, and the Mayor reminded the congregation added that, the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr in honour of Allah the Merciful meant Muslims at this time must demonstrate generosity to the vulnerable in particular, friends, family and neighbours in general.
He appealed to Muslims to be law abiding citizens, whiles supporting the KMA to keep the City clean.
On this year's general elections, the Mayor appealed to them to avoid violence and intimations so that there would be peaceful elections.
He was joined by Mr Francis Dwira-Darko Metro Coordinating Director to present two brand-new motorbikes to the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission in fulfilment of his promise to support their mobility in administering their Islamic and clerical duties.
The Ashanti Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Mission, Maulvi Abdul Hameed received the motorbikes with thanks, and promised to make good use of them.
He showered blessings of Almighty Allah on the Mayor and his government, pledging that, the Ahmadiyya Muslims would play their part to keep Kumasi clean, and ensure a successful general election this year.
The Islamic scholar and mentor said a powerful prayer for the sustenance of peace in the nation, asked for peaceful elections, and advised Muslims to uphold good moral virtues in their endeavours.
