MTN GHANA CONFERS ON HON SAM PYNE

A7-member team from MTN Ghana, led by its Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability officer, Adwoa Wiafe, on Wednesday 12th July, 2023 conferred on the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Sam Pyne at his office.

According to Adwoa Wiafe, the visit was to update the Mayor on the telecommunication’s operation in the Ashanti region particularly Kumasi. She noted that currently MTN was organizing the “Ashanti Fest” as a way to recognize and reward its customers in Kumasi.


She said there were a lot of stakeholder engagements with the people of Kumasi as part of the Ashanti Festival to sell their products and offers in the metropolis.

She noted that the company was also currently expanding the capacity and quality of their network for customers.

Madam Adwoa Wiafe hinted that so far, MTN Ghana has invested $100 million to improve infrastructure to boost the operations of the giant company.

She hinted further that the company has cued into all government programmes on digitalization and also partnered with the Ministry of Communication on Girls in ICT and STEM projects in the country, adding that, Kumasi alone has received 36 out of 106 scholarships given out in the Ashanti region.

Hon. Pyne on his side lauded MTN for their Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) programmes they are embarking on in Kumasi.

He said since technology was a key component in all we do today, the KMA has also introduced an electronic system of revenue collection using Point of Sale Devices (POSs) as a way to increase revenue and also block leakages, adding that MTN was considered as the network provider for the new system.

Hon. Sam Pyne advised the team to reach out to communities in an attempt to educate and sell their products such as the Mobile Money (MoMo) system among others to the people.
