

OPEN CALL BLOOMBERG PHILANTHROPIES CLIMATE ACTION FUND ( ROUND 2 )
The Youth Climate Action Fund, announced at Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayors Innovation Studio during the COP28 UAE Local Climate Action Summit on 2ND December 2023, aims to empower young people between the ages of 15 to 24 to co-create and lead climate solutions through technical support and funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Kumasi’s participation in the program is an exciting step toward fostering a more sustainable future. Following KMA’s successful completion of Round1 of the Youth Climate Action Fund, under the Leadership of Hon. Samuel Pyne, the KMA has advanced to Round 2 of the Fund.
In Round 1 of the programme, KMA received US$50,000, which was awarded to Fourteen (14) different youth groups that engaged Two Thousand Four Hundred (2400) young people.

Under the Round 2 funding, the KMA will once again set up a microgrant program and invite youth aged 15 to 24 and their supporting organizations to develop and submit project proposals. These proposals should align with the city’s established climate goals, and reflect innovative plans for youth to engage inclimate-related activities that can demonstrate community impact.
Youth proposals will be reviewed by advisory committees, which will select the most promising projects for funding and implementation by the youth groups. Subsequently, a microgrant of $1,000- $5,000 will be provided to youth groups to fund projects that are in line with the city’s climate action strategies.

On behalf of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, I today announce a call for all youth aged 15-24 living in Kumasi to come together and submit project proposals on climate related activities. Proposals that are tailor made to fit in the Kumasi situation and to help promote sustainable development in our beloved city. Funds will be provided to selected youth groups by the selection committee and the project implementation committee will as well monitor to ensure strict adherence to project implementation and utilization of funds.
Consequently, from Monday3rd all youth groups can visit the official website of the City www.kma.gov.gh to download the application forms for free. As part of the application forms all needed requirements and eligibility issues have been spelt out. Once completed, filled forms can be submitted online via info@kma.gov.gh or submitted personally to the Development Planning Unit of KMA on or before Friday21stFebruary 2025.
