KMA has legitimate claim to Adehyeman Gardens Says Mayor Bonsu
According to the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Kojo Bonsu, all available documents at the Lands Commission supported the KMAs claim.
He was briefing the media in Kumasi on the demolition of structures at the Adehyeman Gardens last Sunday by a private developer who had sought court order to eject the over 300 petty traders .
The press conference came after the displaced traders and a section of the public accused the KMA of having a hand in the demolition exercise but this was denied by the Assembly.
Mayor Bonsu told the press at the briefing that the Assembly had officially filed an application to join the suit against the traders in court and the matter had been scheduled for hearing on the 26th February, 2014.
He said the KMA would use all legal means to ensure that the women who have lost millions of cedis through the demolition were adequately compensated.
He assured the traders of the protection of the joint police and military team at the demolishing site.
Mayor Bonsu made available to the press a copy of the ruling on the said land between the KMA and one Nana Kwasi Amoako on June 22, 2012.
The plaintiff, head of the Kwaku Krah family of Ahenkro had sought to claim the Adehyeman Gardens but the court presided over by Justice Baah dismissed the application as lacking merit.
