Otumfuo's Statue Unveiled
A statue of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei tutu II has been unveiled at the Kumasi Airport Roundabout to honour him on the occasion of the 17th anniversary celebration of his enstoolment as king of Asante.
Made of marble and other precious stones and materials,the edifice was financed and built by an Display Design and Publicity (DDP) Outdoor Limited, a leading advertising company in the country with technical assistance and supervision from the Urban Roads Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
Unveiling the statue at a brief ceremony at the Kumasi airport roundabout, after its consecration and dedication to God by Rev. Fr.Francis Dwira of the Anglican Church, the Asantehene expressed his appreciation and thankfulness to the advertising company and KMA for honouring him and Asanteman.
He said beautification of the metropolis went hand in hand with clean surroundings and urged residents to stop littering the environment and keep the city clean.
The Executive Director of DDP, Togbor Mensah, said his outfit "did all this" as part of its corporate social responsibility to honour the Asantehene as he commemorated his 17th anniversary.
The ceremony was attended by the Kumasi mayor, Hon.Kojo Bonsu, the Metro Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Michael Attaogye, Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman, the Urban Roads Department, Ing. Theodore Quaye , the Ashanti Regional Director of Urban Roads and other officials at the KMA.
