GOVERNMENT WILL DELIVER ON CAMPAIGN PROMISES –PRESIDENT

The President, Nana Addo DankwaAkufo - Addo has said his administration would   deliver on his campaign promises.
According to him, pledges made during the electioneering campaign were not rhetoric’s but would be fulfilled during his tenure of office. Speaking to the media in Kumasi as part of his three day tour of the Ashanti Region, President Nana Addo was hopeful that fulfilling his commitments to Ghanaians would go a long way in the creation of jobs and wealth for the people and restore the country onto the path of progress and prosperity.
He spoke about the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and said steps were being taken to ensure its viability and sustainability. Touching on the free senior high school (SHS) concept, President Nana Addo said the programme was taking off in September this year and that SHS was going to be truly free.
On the increase of galamsey activities in the country, he said there was the need for holistic approach to the menace as illegal mining or galamsey was a complex phenomenon with widespread interests. He said the government would soon plan and devise appropriate strategy to deal with the problem.
Earlier on in the day, the president paid homage to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, met with transport Union leaders and market queens at the Kumasi Central Market and also inspected the abandoned maternity block at the KomfoAnokye Teaching Hospital ( KATH)
