FOOD VENDORS GO TO SCHOOL OVER CHOLERA
The one-day educative workshop was organized by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) at the Center for National Culture in Kumasi recently.
The workshop forms part of series of interventions by the KMA to help prevent the outbreak of cholera in the city, especially as the raining season looms.
The commendable workshop is also part of the KMAâ??s resolve to make Kumasi become tidy and reclaim its old â??Garden Cityâ?? status within a short span.
Addressing the food vendors, the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, sternly warned about the dangers, in case there is a cholera outbreak in the city.
In this regard, he therefore admonished residents of the city to always keep their environment clean at all times to help avert an outbreak of diseases.
Osei Assibey particularly charged the food vendors to cook their foods in a hygienic environment to help prevent the possibility of a disease outbreak.
He announced that the KMA would soon select some medical facilities that would screen and issue certificates to the food vendors, ahead of the raining season.
The Kumasi Mayor also entreated the food vendors to always dress neatly and avoid buying contaminated foodstuffs from the market to prepare their food.
Osei Assibey stated that it is the interest of the food vendors to prepare food at the acceptable standards for the public to consume, to stay away from trouble.
According to him, keeping the city clean to avert an outbreak of diseases such as cholera is the collective responsibility of every resident of the city.
Osei Assibey therefore admonished the public to make sure that they fully supported all the KMAs policies and programmes to make Kumasi clean.
