NINE SCHOOLS AT NHYIAESO RECEIVE 220 DUAL DESKS

The Nhyiaeso Sub-Metropolitan District Council has donated two hundred and twenty (220) dual desks to some selected schools within the area on Wednesday 14th June 2017. 

The nine beneficiary schools included, Sokoban Basic School, African Faith M/A Basic School, Apramang M/A Basic School, Adiebeba M/A Basic School â??II, Kwadaso Estate Basic School, Fankyenebra Basic School, Santasi M/A Basic school, Patasi M/A Basic School, as well as South SDA Basic School. 

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, who presented the items, expressed his deep appreciation to the council and the management of the Sub-Metro for their ingenuity in supporting quality educational delivery in the Metropolis.

He said that quality education was a vital investment for human and economic development.

 It was also critical to the attainment of the sustainable development goal (SDG) 4.

 The goal, among others, requires the provision of infrastructure, implementation of policies, projects and programs, teaching and learning materials, effective monitoring and evaluation, as well as the motivation of teachers.

The MCE also lauded the Sub-Metro for being visionary and initiating series of programs to support educational development in general. 

He cited the â??No Tolerance for Choleraâ??, an initiative of the sub-Metro which provided hand washing materials for 10 selected schools under its jurisdiction. 

In addition the Sub-Metro in partnership with Centre for Social Innovation, an NGO, has also launched the â??Kumasi Young Innovators Campaignâ??.

 This is to help unearth and develop the creative skills of 300 school children from 10 public schools within the sub-Metro district council.

Hon. Abraham Boadi, Presiding Member of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), commended the MCE for inaugurating recently, the sub-Metro Councils which had been dysfunctional for so many years.

He was hopeful this development would lead to accelerated socio-economic growth in the Metropolis as the decentralized Assemblies were agents of change. 

Mr. Addae Louis from the African Faith M/A School, who received the desk on behalf of the schools thanked the council for the kind gesture.

Present at the ceremony were the Sub-Metro Administrator, Mrs. Deborah Okrah, the Sub-Metro Council Chairman, Hon. Nana James Prempeh, and Mr. Haruna Ibrahim who represented the Metro Director of Education.
