
ECOBANK SUPPORTS KMA MARRIAGE REGISTRY
ECOBANK has donated two Dell Computers and its accessories to the Marriage Registry of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. The Donation according to officials of ECOBANK is to help computerize data at one of the important units at the Assembly and also foster closer relationship between the Bank and KMA. Aside the donation of the computers, the bank has also assured its readiness to train the personnel of the Marriage Registry to sharpen their knowledge in the digital world and be able to utilize the computers for the benefit of persons who access the services of the Marriage Registry.
The Northern Sector Area Manager of ECOBANK, Mr. Abraham Adu Kwarteng led officials of the bank to present the computers at the forecourt of KMA. Mr. Abraham Adu Kwarteng stressed the commitment of the Bank to the agenda of digitizing the work at the Marriage Registry to have a well captured data of all marriage certificates. He said “issues of destroyed marriage certificates in the events of fire outbreaks or due to long years of being kept in cupboards will be a thing of the past when all data is captured on a computer. For us in the bank we believe in the digital world and are therefore committed in helping the Marriage Registry go digital."
The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Asibbey Antwi, who was elated for the support told the delegation from ECOBANK that the Marriage Registry is the busiest unit at the Assembly. He noted that aside couples coming there daily to register their marriages, they also vet marriage certificates from the Courts and Embassies making it an important Unit at KMA.
Hon. Osei Assibey disclosed that the Unit has over one million marriage certificates of marriages only conducted at the Assembly with other certificates kept at their stores. “To say these computers will not ease the work of the personnel of the Marriage Registry is an understatement. It will go a long way in saving and protecting the data and marriage certificates". The Mayor appealed to the bank to own the Unit by renovating the place and subsequently named "ECOBANK HALL OF MARRIAGE". Hon. Osei Asibbey explained the renovation and naming of the Unit after the Bank will go a long way in boosting the image of ECOBANK to the number of people who throng the Unit daily for marriage related issues. The donation was witnessed by some personnel of ECOBANK and staff of KMA. Also in attendance was the Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Michael Ataogye and the Public Relations Officer, Godwin Okumah Nyame.
