KUMASI MAYOR WOOS CHINESE INVESTORS

The Kumasi Mayor, Hon Osei Assibey Antwi has told a visiting Chinese delegation to Ashanti Region that the Region and Kumasi in particular has a huge business potential for investors to exploit.

Speaking during interaction with a 25-man Chinese business delegation that paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey said Kumasi was predominantly a commercial city which attracted about 1.5 million people to the city daily.

He said some of the investment opportunities in Kumasi were accommodation for workers, hostel facilities for the various universities in the city especially Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).


Mayor Osei Assibey Antwi also said in view of the increasing number of vehicles in the city coupled with the Kejetia, Central Market Redevelopment Project, the city was in dire need of a car park which would accommodate the numerous cars of both traders and customers in the city.


For his part, the leader of the Chinese delegation, Mr. Liu Nai Jun, who is also the Director of Commerce of the Chang Chun City told the Kumasi Mayor  that the purpose of the visit was to explore business and investment opportunities in the Ashanti Region especially in Kumasi.

He underscored the need for a sister-city relationship between Kumasi and Chang Chun City for the mutual benefit of the two cities.

Mr. Liu Nai said the team was interested in investing in areas such as mining, power, manufacturing and agro-processing sectors.
