Board to manage Kejetia project inaugurated

A five-member Board of Directorsin-charge of the Kumasi City Market Limited, managers of the Kejetia/CentralMarket Redevelopment Project, has been inaugurated at a ceremony in Kumasi.

 

The Board, chaired by Hon. OseiAssibey Antwi, the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), is to ensure propermaintenance and efficient operations of the multi-million dollar project.

 Nana Agyenim Boateng, representingthe Manhyia Palace, is the Vice-Chairman.

 The rest include Mr. SamuelDonkor, Coordinating Director of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr.Edward Borteye, representing the Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Inusah Shirazu,representing the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.


Hajia Alima Mahama, the sector Minister, in an inaugural address, said the government was hopeful that the Board put in place would work assiduously in maintaining the facility.


The state-of-the-art facility, shenoted, is meant to decongest the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi, oneof the busiest commercial hubs in the West African sub-Region.

 

Brazilian engineering andconstruction firm, Messrs Contracta Engineering Limited, are      executing the project.

 

Hajia Mahama said in view of thehigh cost of the project the onus lied on the Board members to be committed toduty to ensure value for money. 

   

She gave assurance that her Ministry wasfocused on implementing policies and programmes likely to bring socio-economictransformation in the lives of the people. 

 

Mr. Assibey-Antwi called on allstakeholders to come on board in helping them to achieve their goals.
