MAYOR OF KUMASI TOURS BECE CENTRES

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey-Antwi,on Monday toured some BECE centres in the metropolis, urging the students to becalm and focused as they write the exams.


"You should do well to cross this hurdlesuccessfully in order to benefit from the government's 'Free Senior High School(SHS)' program," he entreated the candidates.

 

He drew the attention of the candidates to thefact that this period was a defining moment for them, therefore, they shouldgive their all by working hard to realize their dreams.

 

Hon. Assibey-Antwi, who was accompanied byMrs.Martha Owusu-Agyeman, the Metropolitan Director of Education, visited theState Experimental School, Opoku Ware School, Kumasi Secondary and TechnicalSchool and St. Hubert Seminary, on the first day of the exams.


The Kumasi metropolis has more than 23,000candidates writing the exams at 88 centres.

 

A total of 189 public and 347 private schoolsare taking part in the BECE.

Hon. Assibey-Antwi said it was important thatparents provided their wards with raincoats to facilitate their movement to andfrom the centres.

This, he said, had become necessary because"we are in the rainy season and as such the candidates should be assistedto go the centres with ease."

 

The Mayor cautioned supervisors at the centresnot to turn away pregnant candidates.

Mrs.Owusu-Agyeman told the candidates not toengage in examination malpractices.
