KUMASI MAYOR SCHOOLS NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly has organized a day’sOrientation worship for the 2019/2020 National Service Personnel who wereposted to the Assembly at the Conference Hall of CLOGSAG in Kumasi on TuesdaySeptember 24, 2019.

The purpose of the orientation workshop was to givethe personnel a sense of belonging and exposure to what drives the Assembly andtheir role in achieving organizational success.

The workshop was also to school the personnel on the structuresof the Assembly and the activities that go on in the various Departments, Unitsand Sections of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

Hon. Osei Assibey, the Mayor of Kumasi in his welcomeaddress entreated the service Personnel to work hard and fulfill their servicewith their names written in Gold.

According to him, it was an opportunity for them to applythe theories they studied in school practically in their various postings andto equip themselves for the job market after the service.

 “now yourdestiny is in your own hands, if you want to learn very well, then you will gohome with a lot of knowledge, but if you are not respectful and humble, youwill leave the corridors of KMA without knowing anything” , He added.

The Kumasi Mayor hinted that those posted to the MetroGuards Unit, would be given a special training by both the Police and Militaryfor a week or two to know how they would comport themselves when they areworking within the City to restore the lost image of the unit, adding that, someyears ago, they were the most flamboyant unit of the Assembly.

Mr. Samuel Donkor, the Metropolitan CoordinatingDirector of Kumasi, in a remark, advised the service personnel to be timeconscious, serious and adhere to all rules and regulations and also respectevery office being posted to.

He entreated them to ask questions on what everbothered them concerning what they learnt in school and how it was appliedpractically. According to him, since the national service was a transition fromschool to the job market, it was up to the personnel to prepare and equipthemselves for the task ahead.

In attendance at the workshop were heads ofdepartments, units and agencies within the KMA.
