CHIEF DIRECTOR OF ISD COMMENDS KUMASI MAYOR

A three member delegation led by the Chief Director of Information Services Department, Mr. Charles Wireko, has conferred with the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi at his office on Monday April 27th 2020.

The team was on a week monitoring in the Ashanti region under the authority of the Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah regarding the progress on the education and sensitization on the novel Corona Virus pandemic in the region.

According to Mr. Wireko, the visit was to applaud the KMA and allied agencies for raising the awareness creation on the safety protocols against the Corona Virus in the metropolis.

He commended the MCE, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi for the good work and entreated him to always support the Information Services Department to deliver on its mandate.

Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi in a brief remark thanked the Chief Director and his team for the commendation and noted that the Information Services Department should be leading the education on the Corona Virus but was not adequately resourced;citing the number of the department’s broken down information vans.

He explained that the use of other media such as radio, was expensive compared to information vans that can easily move through various communities to sensitize the electorate.

The MCE proposed that the Ministry of Information should organize workshops for its staff to have adequate knowledge on the deadly corona virus on their finger tips so that they could also educate the public well.

Additionally,he said posters and flyers on the virus should be made available to the ISD on time so that they could be distributed to the public.
