18-UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK FOR KUMASI SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL COMMISSIONED.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon.Simon Osei Mensah, has commissioned an 18-Unit Classroom Block for the Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS) on Wednesday 24th June, 2020.
The Minister in his inaugural address revealed that the project, which was funded by GETFUND, was part of Government’s Emergency Senior High School Projects (ESHSP) earmarked to accommodate the increasing enrollment due to the Government’s Flagship programme, “Free Senior High School”.
According to him, Senior High Schools in Ashanti Region have benefited from 175 different projects under the government’s Emergency Infrastructure Projects of which the 18-Unit Classroom block was part.
He named two 4-storey dormitory block,one for males and the other for females, a laboratory facility and another 18-unit classroom block as part of the educational infrastructure that the school had benefited from.
Hon. Simon Osei Mensah noted that lack of land to pursue further projects was a major problem confronting the school and appealed to Nananom to support the government by providing land to help bring the needed development to the school.
Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi also noted that the increase in educational infrastructure in Senior High Schools in the Ashanti region indicated that the government knew what it was up to when it implemented the Free SHS policy.
He subsequently encouraged the final year students to study hard and pass well to justify the investment by the government.
The chief of Patasi and the Asantehene’s Abenasehene, Nana Adu Ansiri Sarpong, who was the chairman for the occasion thanked the Ashanti regional minister and the Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Mr. Simon Osei Mensah and Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi respectively for aiding the school to get the four projects.
He assured of further discussions with the regional minister, KMA Boss, and Nananom on how they could get land to help in the development of the school.
The headmaster of the school, Mr. Haruna Oppong on his part disclosed that the government had provided the school with more teaching and learning materials as well as personal protective equipment in this Covid-19 era.
Citations were also given to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah and the Kumasi Metro Chief Executive, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi by the school.
