KMA HANDS OVER REFURBISHED CIRCUIT COURT TO JUDICIAL SERVICE

Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi has handed over the refurbished Kumasi Circuit Court to the Judicial Service in Kumasi on Friday June 19, 2020.

The court for some time was in a deplorable state which forced the Judicial Service to relocate it to a temporal place to ensure the continuity of cases that were being handled there.

Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, soon after assuming office as the City Mayor, toured the facility to obtain first-hand information on the state of the court and promised the then Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Gloria Akuffo, who paid him a visit at his office, to rehabilitate it as soon as possible.

According to Mr. Michael Agyemang, the Metro Planning Officer of the Assembly, the Contractor, GoldPrint Construction Ltd after rehabilitating the facility, prompted the KMA of a number of dilapidated items in the court room that needed to be replaced.

He said the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), through the District Performance Assessment Tool (D-PAT), replaced all the items that would ensure the efficiency of the work at the court room.

The items included a bench, desk and table for the Judge, 20 (5-seater) benches for the court room, 6 chairs with tables and 2 book shelves.

The rest includes a set of desktop computer with UPS, 2 chairs and tables for lawyers and court clerks and 2 witness and accused box.

Mr. Noel Francis Agordzo, the regional administrator of Judicial Service received the keys to the facility on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Judicial Service.
