KMA SUPPORTS KUMASI CHESHIRE HOME
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has donated assorted personal protective items to the Kumasi Cheshire Home at Edwenase on Thursday May 14th, 2020 to support the fight against the novel Covid-19 pandemic.
The items include 4 veronica buckets, 4 stands, 4 basins and 20 pieces of sanitizers. The rest include 10 packs of 1kg powder detergents, 4 packs of T-roll, 5 gallons of liquid soap, a box of bar soap, 4 pieces of tissue towel and 100 pieces of locally made face masks.
Mr. Augustine Nterful from the Central Administration of the KMA, made the donation on behalf of the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi.
According to him, the gesture was to support the Home in the fight against the contracting and containment of the corona virus at the centre. He disclosed that the KMA was working assiduously to extend help to other organizations that were in need of such items.
Receiving the items, Mr. Owusu Agyei, the administrator of the Home said he was grateful to the KMA for the gesture. He said the Kumasi Cheshire Home was also appreciative to the KMA and Dr. Ernest Kwarko for supplying cooked food to the Centre during the partial lockdown.
He disclosed that 20 out of the 55 inmates of the Home are currently accommodated in order to ensure adherence to the social distancing protocol. 35 have been sent to their various homes. Mr. Agyei said that they would be readmitted to the centre when the pandemic curtails.
