BASIC SCHOOLS IN KUMASI RECEIVES PPEs

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, has presented personal protective equipment to some basic schools within the Kumasi Metropolis on Thursday 11th March, 2021.

The equipment includes washable nose masks and hand sanitizers. Some schools that benefited from the presentation were Asem Cluster of schools which comprises 17 basic schools including Asem MA, Amakom Abrotia MA, St. Cyprians A/B and Yaa Achiaa Girls, all in the Subin Sub-Metropolitan District Councils. They received a total of 9000 washable nose masks and 400boxes of hand sanitizers to be distributed among them.

In the Bantama Sub-Metropolitan District Council, a total of 400 boxes of hand sanitizers and 8000 pieces of washable nose masks were presented to a total of 16 basic schools including Akosa MA, Adumanu MAand State Boys A/B.

Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, briefing the press after the presentation said the gesture was to augment parent’s effort towards the adherence of the safety protocols by acquiring nose masks for their children.

He said the remaining Sub-Metros within the metropolis would also receive their share of the presentation and would be extended to the Churches, Mosque, Schools, Transport terminals, the media, and the markets within Kumasi.

He entreated parents to encourage their children to adhere to all the safety protocols at home as a measure to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.

Hon. Osei Assibey reckoned that, the recent AstraZeneca vaccine which is being rolled out by the government would also reduce the spread of the deadly Coronavirus, and encouraged the general public to take the vaccine jab.

The MCE was accompanied by the Metropolitan Director of Education, the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, some heads of department ,and the press.
