The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman joined the Muslim Community in Kumasi to Mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration at the T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS on Friday, 6th June2025.
Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman, in an address read on behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, commended the Muslim Community for the peaceful co-existence with other religious communities in the Kumasi Metropolis.
He mentioned that since the President was sworn into office, he has implemented key projects aimed at driving the Islamic religion in the interest of development across the country.
Among these projects he said is the significant reduction of the cost of attending the Holy Pilgrimage (Hajj) to far less than GH¢70,000 which is meant to relief all Muslim believers of the heavy financial burden imposed on them through the exercise. He said the President intentionally plans to further cut down the cost in order to allow as many believers as possible to go and pray for themselves, family, the Islamic religion, and Ghana as a nation. Moreover, he said there is an ongoing project to rebuild a bigger Hajj resident with a modern facility which would be used by the believers during their trip.
The Kumasi Mayor also indicated that the President has initiated a scheme to specially train nurses and midwives from the Islamic background and origin who would competently attend to the needs of Islamic patients and pregnant women in the interest of the demands of the religion.
He added that there is a deliberate effort by the President to invest heavily on the Islamic institutions across the country with a special interest to uniquely improve the standards of the Islamic hospitals and schools within the Ashanti Region by providing modern training facilities for both schools and hospitals.
He said to start this project, the President has demanded for the budget and all documentations regarding a modern assembly hall to be erected for the Islamic schools in Kumasi.Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi posited that the President extends his appreciation to the Muslim community for their support during the December 2024 elections, and for keeping their trust in him to serve the people of Ghana.
