GHANAIANS URGED TO PURSUE PEACE AND NATIONAL UNITY.

A passionate appeal has been made to Ghanaians to pursue peace and national unity in all endeavors, noting it is essential for prosperity and rapid development.

Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Anokye, Metropolitan Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Kumasi, made a clarion appeal in his sermon delivered at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held on July 1, 2025.

The maiden non-denominational prayer and thanksgiving programme, themed "Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity," was held at the Calvary Charismatic Church auditorium in Ayigya, Kumasi, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

The revered minister of God noted that it is paramount that Ghanaians, regardless of faith, ethnicity, politics, among other considerations, pray for national leaders, unity, peace, and the well-being of the nation in reference to 1 Timothy 2:1-4.

He added that the Scriptures enjoin well-meaning individuals to pray for the good of the nation and for people in authority.

He admonished Ghanaians, particularly those in authority, to be guided by divine wisdom, remain truthful, faithful, and transparent in prosecuting the national agenda.

"We need to reflect, reset, and renew for national prosperity by being guided by good morals, being accountable, being transparent, being truthful, and loving the nation," he advised.

The maiden Metropolitan/Regional National Day and Thanksgiving was graced by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, and Mr. Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, Regional Chairman of NDC.

Also present were government officials, including regional, divisional, and district security heads.

Divine guidance was sought through prayers for the Executive, Judiciary, and Parliament, as well as for national development and prosperity.

Similar intercessory prayers were offered for spiritual renewal and revival for unity, peace, and security within Ghana's borders.

Later in the day, the Muslim community converged at the forecourt of the Kumasi Central Mosque at Asawase to hold an equally impressive service for the nation.

Just like their colleagues of the Christian faith, the Muslim clergymen, led by Sheikh Zakariya Abdul Rahman, Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, praised Allah, recited the Holy Quran and committed the nation and its leaders to Him.

Addressing the two separate congregations, he thanked the clergymen for their role in making the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving services a huge success.

He also expressed the government's delight to them for their commitment to praying for unity, peace, and progress of the nation, urging all Ghanaians to emulate their good example to make the nation great and strong.
