


MAYOR OF SAVANNAH-GEORGIA, USA CALLS FOR LASTING RELATIONSHIP WITH KUMASI
The Mayor of Savannah-Georgia, USA, Mr. Van R. Johnson II has emphasized their commitment to building a lasting relationship grounded in respect, mutual learning, and cultural exchange with the City of Kumasi.
He said Savannah and Kumasi has a lot to learn from each other and so they were willing to forge an official partnership between the two Cities.
Mr. Van R. Johnson made these remarks when he led a team of councilors from Savannah -Georgia, USA to pay a courtesy call on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
“We know that good relationships, real friendship, and sustaining partnerships last beyond Mayors’ administration and so it is my hope that when I become an ancestor, young people will come to represent the people of Savannah, and young people here will also come to Savannah to represent the people of Kumasi to continue with what has begun here today” Mr. Johnson said.
The visiting Mayor said the delegation was totally impressed about what they have seen, felt, and experienced and that they will come back as ambassadors and investors of their own to tell the Kumasi story of rich culture and business opportunities.
Mr. Van R. Johnson called for a continued communication between the KMA and Savannah teams to find ways to forge an agreement.
“I want this partnership to be cemented so that it is not easily lifted, and we hope to have you visit Savannah as well so that we can also show you the hospitality that you have shown us” the Savannah Mayor noted.
Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, Mayor of the Kumasi in his remarks emphasized the importance of continued engagement and the value of establishing long-term partnerships that go beyond politics and office terms.
He said with shared visions of growth, innovation, and cultural connections, Kumasi and Savannah can lay a foundation for a promising relationship.
The Kumasi Mayor was optimistic that the partnership between the city of Kumasi and Savannah (Georgia- USA) will bring economic benefit, employment and growth.
