KMA HANDS OVER SITES FOR PROJECTS TO BOOST LOCAL ECONOMY

Kumasi city authorities have handed over sites to contractors for the commencement of development infrastructure to boost economic activities and sanitation.

Separate, brief ceremonies were held on Tuesday, March 3, where officials of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), led by the Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, handed over detailed contract documents to contractors who satisfied their conditionalities.

All the projects will be executed under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreements and are expected to be completed in 24 months, all things being equal.

The projects include the construction of 94-unit commercial stores to be constructed by La Sama Enterprise at Suntreso, and the construction of 47-unit lockable stores with bedroom apartments at Ashtown to be constructed by EK5 Company Limited.

Others are the construction of a modern bus terminal with 112 shops, 122-unit open sheds, a 48-seater toilet facility, and 12-unit bathrooms at Bantama, and the construction of a mixed-use facility comprising 22-unit shops and five offices at Amakom to be executed by EK5 Company Limited and FODAVCO Company Limited, respectively.

In his brief remarks, the Metro Coordinating Director charged contractors to execute high-quality work that can stand the test of time.

He said city authorities would not compromise on quality work, urging local leaders to report any contractor who does shoddy work.

He assured that there would be regular site visits to ensure contractors stick to the dictates of project designs and details.

Various contractors promised to work diligently to secure the trust of city authorities and stakeholders for future contracts.
