


SOD CUTTING FOR KUMASI AMPHITHEATER
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Mark Okraku Mante and the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Sam Pyne on Wednesday April 26, 2023 jointly cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern Amphitheater at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.
The Amphitheater when completed, will have a seating capacity of 1,000 with a spillover when necessary as well as a top cover which makes it an ultra-modern one.
Hon. Mark Okraku Mante, who was also the special guest of honor, addressing the gathering, said the project was in fulfilment of a 2020 campaign promise by the President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to construct 5 Amphitheaters across the nation to support the Creative Arts industry.
According to him, the project will be ready by end of July 2023 for the Creative Arts industry to take advantage of, adding that, the Amphitheater will serve as an affordable venue for music and film producers across the country.
He mentioned Kumasi, Tamale, Accra, Takoradi and Tema as the beneficial Cities of the 5 Amphitheaters to be constructed.
Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Sam Pyne in his speech expressed appreciation to the Government for bringing such a project to Kumasi.
The Mayor mentioned that our culture, including the Adowa, Kete among others if put together and packaged well could also fetch income for the nation when the project is completed.
Hon. Sam Pyne pledged the Assembly’s support for the project to be completed per the timelines that has been given.
