SUNTRESO HOSPITAL RECEIVES WASTE BINS

Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Samuel Pyne on Wednesday 12^th July, 2023 donated 30waste bins to the Suntreso Hospital in Kumasi as part of efforts to support institutions in the battle against poor sanitation and waste disposal in the Kumasi metropolis.

Presenting the Bins to the hospital, the Mayor explained that, the bins were received from the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources for onward distribution but the KMA has decided to distribute its bins to educational and health facilities in the metropolis.

He was confident the gesture would go a long way to help the hospital dispose their medical waste which if not properly done may ward of patients who patronize the facility.

Hon. Pyne entreated the management of the hospital to educate the nurses on proper human relations when it comes to the handling of patients to build their trust.

Receiving the bins on behalf of the hospital, a medical superintendent Dr. Thomas Agyarko-Poku said the gesture was timely since a recent memo from their accounts section to him indicated the urgent need for the facility to procure about60 waste bins.

He added that they were able to procure only 5 out of the 60 requested and was so grateful to the Mayor for the kind gesture.

Dr. Agyarko-Poku assured the Mayor that they will maintain the bins and use it for its intended purpose, adding that, they needed more of such logistics for the facilities’ operations.

Other institutions that has already received some of the bins from the KMA include the Police Training School, Opoku Ware SHS, Forestry Commission, AG’s Office, RCC,T.I. Amass, KSHTS among others.
