57 PWDs IN KUMASI BENEFIT FROM KMA CASH AND ITEMS SUPPORT
The Social Welfare and Community Development Department of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on Thursday, July 9, 2026, held a durbar at the KMA Forecourt to present cash and items to 57 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the metropolis. The beneficiaries received support to help them in areas such as capacity building, skill training, educational support, health needs, and business development. Electric Sewing Machines, fridges, hair dryers and money were disbursed to address pressing conditions faced by recipients. Addressing the durbar Hon. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi congratulated them and urged them to use the support given to them productively. He announced that government increased its allocation to the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) from 3% to 5% to demonstrate the commitment of government to their welfare. They were advised to keep in constant touch with the Social Welfare Department for monitoring and for any additional assistance that may be needed in the future Present at the durbar were Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Jones Kani, the Metro Budget Analyst, and Mrs. Esther Apraku Nyarko, Metro Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Mr. Charles Benim, a represented the chairman of the Federation of PWD in Kumasi. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to government, and KMA for the support promising to make good use of the gesture.
