A massive clean-up exercise was held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, to keep the city of Kumasi clean in accordance with the government’s sanitation agenda.
Bantama High Street and Bantama Market were supervised by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, and a team from Zoomlion Ghana Limited, while the Abrepo Junction Electoral Area was supervised by the Metro Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko, and staff.

Participation was encouraging, particularly by students of Asanteman Senior High School who turned out in their numbers to ensure that streets in front of the school, gutters, and bushes were cleared.
It is also important to state that, pursuant to the Assembly's earlier public announcements and press release on the reintroduction of the "Samansaman" System in the Metropolis, a special sanitation task force will begin in full earnest on Monday, July 6, to ensure the system sees the light of day.

The "Samansaman" System aims to bring to book residents who fail to keep their surroundings tidy, thereby encouraging a healthier and safer environment.
The public has been advised to send useful and relevant information via WhatsApp on 0540 315 928 so that sanitation challenges in Kumasi can be addressed together.
