REGIONAL MINISTER TOURS KEJETIA PROJECT SITE
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Alexander John Ackon has touredthe Kejetia project site where the first phase of the Kejetia/CentralMarket Redevelopment project isunderway.
Accompanied by the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Kojo Bonsu and thestaff at the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Kumasi MetropolitanAssembly (KMA) as well as journalists, Hon. Ackon first visited the showroom ofContracta-the Brazilian company executing the project at the Center forNational Culture (CNC).
Welcoming the Regional Minster and his entourage to theshowroom, the Project Manager of Contracta, Mr. Carlos Gala, on behalf of histeam of engineers expressed delight about the visit and briefed Hon. Ackon onthe project model exhibited at the showroom.
Speaking to journalist after the inspection tour of theKejetia redevelopment site, Hon. Ackonexpressed satisfaction about the level of work done so far and gave theassurance that government was committed to completing the project on schedule.
He said despite the initial hiccups and challenges the projectwas progressing steadily.
He was hopeful that bySeptember this year, construction works at the Kejetia site would improve andcalled for the co-operation and support of all stakeholders to ensure itssuccessful completion.
Hon. Kojo Bonsu, the ChiefExecutive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, on his part,reiterated the assembly's quest in protecting the interest and well being oftraders. He gave the reassurance that the traders who were relocated fromKejetia would be brought back.
