KUMASI ROADS UNDERGO REHABILITATION

As part of efforts to fix the bad roads in Kumasi and in the Ashanti Region as a whole, government has moved to engage three contractors to commence the asphalt overlay of some of the major road networks in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The move by the Akufo-Addo administration which is widely seen as a fulfillment of one of its campaign promises to the region will bring relief to motorists and residents in the Ashanti Region especially those in the Kumasi Metropolis where bad roads in the city has become a topical issue on the air waves.


The contractors to execute the projects which include JOSHOB Construction LTD and Cymain Construction Ltd will tackle the most distressed stretch of roads in the city starting from roads in the Manhyia South Constituency to the Bantama Constituency, Subin and other constituencies in the Metropolis.


The Kumasi Ring Road Project is also included to give the roads a facelift and ensure free flow of vehicles and also ease traffic congestion. 

In a related development an elated Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah accompanied by some government officials inspected work on the removal of four problematic roundabouts on the Kumasi-Ejisu highway to ensure easy movement of vehicles.

The Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi who inspected the on-going asphalt overlay project by the JOSHOB Construction LTD at the Manhyia Constituency said the NPP Government had been in office for less than two years but were delivering. 

Engineer Nana Poku Agyemang, the Kumasi Metro Urban Roads Director said some of the roads in the city had not seen any major rehabilitation for the past 25 years and gave the assurance that the contractors would do a quality job.
