Durbar held in Honour of British High Commissioner

A  durbar has been  held in honor of the British High Commissioner to Ghana His Excellency Iain Walker by the Member of Parliament for  Nhyiaeso Hon. Kennedy Kankam , the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and the Chiefs and People of Nhiaeso Constituency in Kumasi.

The MP, Kennedy Kankam in an address regretted although most dignitaries in Kumasi live in the Nhyiaeso Constituency the constituency lack many social amenities.

He said "roads in the constituency are bad with no second cycle institution in the eastern part of the constituency. 

He mentioned that there is no government health facility in the constituency. Work on police funded ten bed clinic has stalled due to lack of funds.

He appealed to the British High Commissioner and the Department of International Development to help build hospital, Senior High School and upgrading of the roads in the constituency to help improve the living condition of the people of Nhyieaso.

The Mayor of Kumasi, Hon Osei Assibey Antwi used the occasion to highlight on the investment opportunities that exist in the Kumasi Metropolis.  He mentioned high rising car parks, lorry terminals, hotels and hostels at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and tourism industry as some potential investment opportunities that can be tapped.

In his remarks the British High Commissioner to Ghana His Ex. Iain Walker said the United Kingdom and Ghana have a lot in common in terms of culture. "The ties between the Asante Kingdom and UK is strong with a common lineage. He expressed the hope small and medium scale businesses will thrive to boost the economy of the country

The durbar was chaired by Nana Owusu Barimah III, the Atasomansohene.
