The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Kumasi as a premier destination for investment through strategic partnerships with France and other international development partners.

During a high-level engagement with H.E. Diarra Dime-Labille, French Ambassador to Ghana, the Mayor outlined key investment opportunities in Kumasi, including the proposed development of a modern convention centre with a 60-bed international-standard hotel, a US$100 million waste-to-energy project, sustainable urban infrastructure, affordable housing, climate resilience initiatives, education and real estate development.

Hon. Ofori-Agyeman Boadi emphasized that empowering local governments with greater fiscal autonomy would enable Metropolitan Assemblies to respond more effectively to development needs, attract investment and accelerate socio-economic growth.

The French Ambassador welcomed the Assembly's vision and pledged to facilitate connections with French investors, development finance institutions and relevant government agencies. She also encouraged the Assembly to prepare investment-ready project concept notes to showcase Kumasi's vast potential.

The discussions further explored opportunities for technical cooperation in climate action, waste management, urban planning, innovation and sustainable infrastructure, while highlighting the need for stronger coordination among development partners to maximise development impact.

Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration would open new avenues for investment, job creation and sustainable development, further strengthening Kumasi's position as Ghana's Garden City and a leading investment destination in West Africa.
